1.) Is there a time limit for the Marathon or Half-Marathon?
There is an 8 hour time limit on the Marathon. If you are taking the time to train and prepare for a race of this distance and spending your hard earned money on entry fees, we will be as flexible as reasonably possible. We had to institute a time limit due to the race finishing in downtown Harrisburg. The City needs to be able to open the streets. The Half-Marathon and 10K will continue to not have a time limit for completion.
2.) What is the entry fee?
Check the “Race Info” tab for further. There are different fees depending on how early you register. It pays to be early!
3.) What do I get with my entry to the event?
Your entry includes a custom finisher’s race medal (must finish the race) and custom shirt (the shirt and medal are only guaranteed if you register before the deadline). Additional swag will also be included. The event may also include access to the event expo, food vendors, beer vendors, musical entertainment and any other scheduled activities. This varies from year to year.
4.) Is this a team event or individual?
At this time, it is an individual event only. We no longer offer the team relay option.
5.) What happens if there is rain?
The event will be held rain or shine. We will cancel the event for severe weather when our participants could be placed in danger. The safety of our racers, staff, and spectators is our top concern. Notifications will be sent if the race is delayed or rescheduled.
6. ) When should I arrive?
Please refer to the “Race Info” page for important times. We have buses transporting our participants to the start locations and the times listed will be strictly held to for time constraint purposes. Feel free to arrive even earlier to join in on the fun and visit our merchandise tent/booth.
8.) Does the Shawnee Marathon support charities?
Absolutely! Every Run To Succeed owned event partners with a local charity. Currently, the Marathon supports Veterans through Team Red, White and Blue.
9.) Can I pick up race packets for others?
You are welcome to pick up packets for your family or friends. However, it is imperative that every participant must have signed an event waiver during the registration process in order for the packet to be picked up. If the waiver was not signed, the packet will not be released.
10.) Can I pick up race packets on race day morning?
Late Packet Pickup information can be found on the “Race Info” page for important dates and times for packet pickups. We have three different races beginning at three different times at three different locations. Therefore, we must strictly adhere to the time listed. Sorry for the inconvenience.
11.) Where does the Marathon, Half-Marathon and 10K start and finish?
All three races will finish at the same location in downtown Harrisburg near N. Vine and E. Poplar Streets. The Shawnee Marathon will start at the majestic Garden of the Gods. The Shawnee Half-Marathon will start at SIC (Southeastern Illinois College). Please check the “Race Info” page for important transport times. We will transport all participants to their starting points. The Shawnee 10K is an out and back course and will begin at the previously mentioned finish location.
